Beginning next week on 4/18 and 4/19, the Counseling Office will be visiting all Government classes to collect scholarship documentation and complete Senior Surveys. You do not have to wait....this can be done now. #1 Enter Scholarship Information (for students who have received any "free" money -scholarships and grants): 1-Please report all scholarship awards in the link provided (2018 Scholarships) it is also on your Naviance home screen (bottom link). Please include scholarships you are choosing to not accept, as well as those you are accepting. In addition to entering your information in the provided link, you must also provide official documentation of your scholarship awards. Documentation is required for your scholarship to count in our overall totals, and to be recognized at Senior Awards. You may bring hard copies of your scholarship awards when we do Senior Surveys, you may e-mail scholarship awards to me at maintb@pwcs.edu, or you may drop them off in the Counseling Office. All documentation must be turned in no later than May 15, if you wish to be recognized at Senior Awards (on May 30 at 3:00 PM). I will mail home parent invitations beginning mid-May.  #2 Senior Survey (EVERY senior must complete): PWCS collects data and needs to know what you are doing after graduation. If you are attending college, you will note that in the survey, and this is the college that will receive your final transcript in June. You will not need to make an additional request to have a final transcript sent to the college of your choice. To access your survey:Log into your Naviance account, click the "About Me" tab, look in the left margin, and click "PWCS Senior Survey 2018". You can only complete this survey once. As always, please feel free to contact Mrs. Main with any questions!

The Hylton Dance Team is excited for a new start. We have a lot of new members this year, who have been working hard at practices and fundraisers this summer. If you missed try-outs in early June, there will be another opportunity to try out the second week of school.  We are especially interested in those with previous dance team and studio experience, and also gymnasts or former cheerleaders. Watch this space for more details.

We are working hard preparing for pep rally, Homecoming game and the County Dance Team Competition. The girls are simultaneously learning two routines, and we will learn another in a few weeks. All of these routines need to be completed, cleaned, and polished for our November 19 Dance Team Competition, called Dance Champs, held at Colgan High School. If someone has never been on a dance team before, they may not know what goes into a routine! It isn't simply -dancing-. There is so much more than that! Here is an outline of the steps that need to happen before a routine can be performed. -choosing music -cutting, editing, and mixing music -choreographing the routine- we do a combination of captains choreographing and hiring professional choreographers -choreographing formations and transitions -spending hours learning the routine -going through each formation change step by step and moving people who can't get from point A to point B without interruptions -slowly going over and reteaching each 8 count of the routine -changing the parts of the routine that don't look amazing -picking out costumes/uniforms for the routine -ordering or handing out those costumes/uniforms -deciding on make-up and hair -running the routine full out OVER AND OVER AND OVER again -having auditions for the routine to ensure it looks the best it can -running the routine full out OVER AND OVER AND OVER again -having a dress rehearsal to make sure everything is just right -and finally performing/competing the routine!... Sounds exhausting, right? It is! But it is also such a sense of accomplishment when it all comes together.
